Continue to build and foster a climate where economic activity is valued, businesses can succeed, and there is an opportunity for everyone.
One of the cornerstones of a great community is a vibrant economic climate. I have always advocated for policies that promote economic activity, but there is much more to it than that. Local government actions that provide excellent infrastructure, clear and simple regulations, and forward thinking initiatives help all businesses and all individuals succeed. Over the last few years I supported and helped pass measure 3F which has led to the long awaited reconstruction of Ralston Road and West 72nd Av. I also worked for over a year to help develop and refine Arvada’s new Land Development Code which gives clarity and important latitude to all commercial businesses and expanded possibilities for homebased businesses, and when the economic shutdown due to the Coronavirus happened, I strongly advocated for economic assistance grants for Arvada businesses, and closing some streets in Olde Town so that our many fine retail and service establishments could survive and thrive.
Upgrade, manage, and develop our physical infrastructure for the present and the future.
Arvada’s largest asset is our street and road network, followed by our water, waste water, and storm water systems. We also are developing an excellent fiber optic network to connect city facilities, traffic signals, and community partners like fire and schools. All of this infrastructure takes care, maintenance and thoughtful development. Like most Arvada residents I have benefitted from well planned and executed facilities and systems. I will continue to focus on future needs and necessary enhancements to our most valuable assets, including advocating for increasing our streets maintenance spending.
Support a safe and vibrant community.
All Arvada residents and visitors deserve to have a safe and vibrant community. As we exit from pandemic conditions it is important we all work together to insure our neighborhoods and commercial areas are safe, accessible, and welcoming. I want to insure that we continue to have a top notch police department that sets the standards that all police departments aspire to. I will always support hiring the best officers and giving them outstanding training, and equipment. I will continue make sure that our municipal court is fair, customer friendly, and accessible to all. I will make sure the city continues to engage neighbors and neighborhoods so everyone has a voice and influence in their local government.
